Injuries
|
Are footballers made of fucking glass nowadays.
Can someone with medical knowledge explain to me how peak fitness co exists with such fragility.
There must be a correlation between the conditioning and susceptibility to injuries, fucked if I know what it is.
Heres where I fall down in the understanding of this.
Having played football at a reasonable level in my youth and into my late 30's and then sunday league standard after that, I often wondered how, when often playing with and against, hungover, often aggressive bastards, that it would be quite rare for anyone to pick up an injury, even when people were lunging in, poorly warmed up etc. The worst I ever suffered was a couple of broken metatarsals and the odd dead leg. (I did once break my mates leg, but that was a freak)
Nowadays it seems like the slightest knock to a Prem player results in a muscle tear, ligament damage etc and this seems to happen on a weekly basis.
Just interested to understand the relationship.
Pussies.

One thing I noticed for most of the recent Euros, was the relative lack of injuries compared to a similar number of games in the Premier League.
I would have thought they should have been more susceptible, seeing as it was the end of a season etc.
Did anyone else notice this or did I dream it?

After seeing Burke last night the sale of Tomkins makes sense
Proved last year he's a decent Cb, the season before he can cover at Rb and last night at lb
Hope he gets plenty of chances

Good analogy
Was annoying to see Ayew running along with thighs as thick as an OAK TREE crumble to the ground with no contact. Just a ping of the thigh muscle.

Picture an elastic band.
A premier league player's muscles are that stretched to its optimum. More power, but easier to break.
Your fat mates on a Sunday morning are that elastic band balled up and stored down the middle of a toilet roll.

The game is quicker and more athletic so the players are more like highly strung RACEHORSES rather than the slow lumpen fat carthorses that you recall. Or possibly RESEMBLED
No offence
